Electrolux PhD Design Research Scholarship - Monash University MADA - Industrial Design


In conjunction with Electrolux, a global leader in appliance design, the Faculty of Art Design & Architecture at Monash University (MADA) are pleased to offer a PhD Design Research Scholarship opportunity.

The MADA PhD with its project based format and focus on the design as research is an ideal format for this research endeavour and the successful applicant will work in close collaboration with Professor Mark Armstrong to create new knowledge in the appliance category.

Project Objectives
The focus of the Electrolux Research Initiative is to develop original and innovative design concepts and approaches to address the challenges faced in the planning of future living environments relating to the preparation of food within the domestic environment.

The Initiative aims to:
> Promote the unique challenges faced in designing sustainable appliances and infrastructure within the design industry
> Develop knowledge and learning about design of home appliances
> Upgrade the quality and breadth of design inputs used to create new ecological solutions for the future

Electrolux PhD Scholarship
Electrolux is the world’s largest and most respected appliance manufacturing company. The company prides itself in manufacturing and marketing products that deliver beyond customer expectations, cutting- edge technology and a genuine focus on customer needs.

The project will be concerned with an aspect of the future home. This may include topics around the design of cooling and heating products.

Scholarship Award
> Annual tax free stipend of $25,000 for four years.
> Course Fees for Australian / New Zealand citizens and Australian Permanent Residents will be covered by the Research Training scheme (RTS).
